Perhaps the most important task for Inter this summer is to secure the future of 48-year-old coach Inzaghi.

There has never been any real doubt about the former Lazio coach remaining in post.

Inter, of course, are not in any rush to part ways with a coach who has just guided Inter to the Serie A title in dominant fashion.

Inzaghi has shaped Inter in his image over the past three seasons, since taking over from Antonio Conte in the summer of 2021.

Meanwhile, by all accounts Inzaghi is keen to stay at Inter.

There may have been a bit of interest in the coach’s signature. Reportedly, Chelsea and Manchester United considered Inzaghi as a prospective target.

But the coach is happy staying put. He wants to continue his Inter project, and even believes that the best is yet to come.

Simone Inzaghi One Step Away From Signing New Inter Milan Deal

At the moment, Inzaghi is under contract with Inter until the end of next June.

The 48-year-old signed his most recent extension with the Nerazzurri last summer. That was just a one-season bumper deal.

And so naturally, this summer, Inter have been working to secure Inzaghi on a new deal.

Reports have indicated that the Nerazzurri considered handing Inzaghi a two-year extension until the end of June 2027, rather than another bumper contract.

And that has reportedly been the preference of the coach himself.

However, Inter have instead insisted on their policy of only giving the coach a season-long extension.

Meanwhile, Inzaghi will naturally receive a significant pay raise to reflect his work last season.

Reportedly, the Nerazzurri will increase the 48-year-old’s earnings to around €6.5 million net per season plus add-ons.

There have already been a few meetings between Inter and Inzaghi’s agent Tullio Tinti.

And according to Sky, there was another meeting this morning.

The broadcaster reports that the meeting progressed very smoothly. Now, Inzaghi is right on the verge of putting pen to paper on a new contract with Inter.
