Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu expects a tough test against Sassuolo and has urged his players to show focus, aggression and the right mentality as he also described watching Lautaro Martinez as “a pleasure” for football fans.
The Romanian coach spoke to Sky Sport Italia before the match, with quotes via FCInterNews.
The Nerazzurri travel to the Mapei Stadium aware of Sassuolo’s strong form and their history of causing problems.
Chivu made it clear that details will decide the match, with three massive points on the line.
Napoli scored a stoppage time winner to beat Genoa yesterday and therefore it is of the utmost importance that Inter secure the win at the Mapei.
“We have to win it with attention, with the right attitude, with the correct approach to the game and in the duels,” he said. “We must understand the type of match that is needed. It won’t be simple. They have often put Inter in difficulty and they trouble everyone. They are having a very good season, even though they are newly promoted.”

Chivu plans several changes from the Coppa Italia win, but he sees that as a strength.
“The best news from this rotation is having a squad that gives everything and stays available for the team,” he said. “The league is long and we need ambition because we are Inter. This club built an important history. That history allows us to compete at a high level and gives us international recognition.”
The coach also praised captain Lautaro Martinez, who stands close to another personal milestone.
“What strikes me is his hunger and his desire to be decisive,” Chivu said.
“He wants to win and improve every day in training. He has many important qualities. For anyone who loves football, it is a pleasure to watch players like Lautaro.”
