Inter Milan are fully confident in their ability to sign Independiente Rivadavia defender Tomas Palacios before the end of the summer.

The Nerazzurri have been on the lookout for a new defender since losing Tajon Buchanan to injury last month.

With the Canadian out of action for almost the entire first half of the season, Simone Inzaghi will shift back Carlos Augusto to the wingback department.

Therefore, Alessandro Bastoni remains without a clear understudy.

Nevertheless, Inter have found the right profile in the shape of Palacios. The 21-year-old is a Talleres youth product who is currently on loan at Independiente Rivadavia.

The latter club will activate the option to buy the youngster before selling him for an immediate profit.

According to Sky Sport Italia via FcInter1908, the Nerazzurri are looking to untie the final knots before reaching a definitive agreement with the Argentinian club.

The operation could cost Inter circa 6.5 million euros as a transfer fee in addition to various bonuses that can raise the sum to 11 million euros maximum.

But in the meantime, the Italian champions remain greatly optimistic about their chances of landing the young defender.

Inter Milan Confident About Signing Tomas Palacios Next Week

The Beneamata are already planning for the player’s arrival in Italy which should take place next week.

Palacios will undergo routine procedures, which include medical tests, before signing with the Italian champions.

Nevertheless, the Nerazzurri must finalize the operation before the end of the summer transfer market. The session will expire next Friday.

The young Argentine would be Inter’s fourth addition to the senior squad this summer.

The Nerazzurri have already acquired Piotr Zielinski, Josep Martinez and Mehdi Taremi in what has been a relatively quiet summer.
