Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni admits that it’s “been a tough week” in the Italy training camp under Gennaro Gattuso.
The 26-year-old spoke to Sport TV, Via FCInterNews. about working under the new Azzurri coach.
Italy beat Estonia yesterday in a World Cup qualifying win. They won by the emphatic scoreline of 5-0.
Gennaro Gattuso got his reign as Azzurri off to the best possible start with the victory.
Italy were not able to score in the first half, despite their complete dominance of possession.
However, in the second half the floodgates opened, with the Azzurri scoring five goals without reply.

Italy’s victory yesterday was the result of a lot of work in training since the start of the international break.
“It’s been a very tough week physically,” said Nerazzurri defender Alessandro Bastoni.
“We’ve worked hard, and not just technically.”
Bastoni explained that “the coach wanted to focus on our desire, our determination, and hunger.”
“Maybe these are things that have been lacking recently,” the 26-year-old said of some less-than-stellar results for Italy in recent matches.
Bastoni declared that “we’re proud.”
“Even when you’re tired, the coach pushes you to give that little bit extra.”
“That’s what you really have to give when you play for the national team. Because you truly represent so many Italians, in Italy and around the world.”
“We’re proud of our performance,” said Bastoni. “And we hope that it bodes well for the rest of the qualification campaign.”
