Beppe Bergomi stressed the significance of fitness, insisting staying fit is the only way for Inter Milan to be their best version.
Speaking to Sky Sport via FCInterNews, Bergomi highlighted how dominant the Nerazzurri have been since Cristian Chivu’s appointment.
Despite losing twice in the opening three Serie A rounds, Inter Milan are firmly back on track.
Indeed, five consecutive wins in all competitions have restored confidence at San Siro.
Furthermore, Cristian Chivu has made the Nerazzurri look formidable in attack again.
For context, they bagged an impressive 13 goals across those five triumphs, averaging 2.6 goals per game.
Virtually unplayable, Inter dismantled newly promoted Cremonese last weekend, strolling to a superb 4-1 home victory.
Therefore, the 20-time Italian champions entered the international break only three points adrift of pacesetters Napoli and Roma.
Meanwhile, they’ve enjoyed a perfect start to the new Champions League season.
Commanding wins over Ajax and Slavia Prague have instilled belief that Inter can compete on multiple fronts this season.

“That’s why I say the physical aspect is important,” Bergomi said. “Let’s remember what we were saying a month ago after the defeats to Udinese and Juve.
“The team is in good shape, and when they’re physically well, they play very good football.
“The midfield is strong, made up of number tens who can pass very well, even though yesterday, with Davide Frattesi, it was a different midfield.
“Moreover, the numbers are excellent.
“However, to see it play properly, you have to start from a defensive line that is five meters higher, which in modern football is a lot.
“You push the forwards up, and this allows the team to achieve certain stats.”
Finally, he urged Inter to avoid complacency, with a difficult run of fixtures looming.
“Roma, Napoli, and Champions League away games, with two direct clashes,” Bergomi added. “That’s where we’ll get some answers.”
