Inter Milan are set to face Lazio again at the Stadio Olimpico, just days after their last meeting, this time in the Coppa Italia final.
Cristian Chivu’s side will aim to lift their second trophy of the season, having already secured the Serie A title. Inter also have a strong record against Lazio, going unbeaten in their last nine encounters.
The Nerazzurri are in excellent form, leading the league with 85 points and currently on a nine-game unbeaten run in domestic competitions. Their latest match saw them beat Lazio 3-0, taking advantage of their opponents being reduced to 10 men. Inter’s attack has been particularly impressive, scoring at least two goals in each of their last seven matches.
Confidence remains high in the Inter camp, especially after Marcus Thuram recovered from a minor injury concern during training on Monday.
The French forward has returned to full training and is expected to start alongside captain Lautaro Martinez, forming a dangerous attacking duo.
However, Inter will be without Hakan Calhanoglu, as the midfielder is still unavailable due to fitness problems.
In his absence, Chivu is expected to rely on a midfield trio of Nicolo Barella, Piotr Zielinski, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to maintain balance and control.
Possible Inter Milan starting XI: J. Martinez; Bisseck, Akanji, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Zielinski, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Thuram, L. Martinez
The match will kick off at 8pm BST on Wednesday, 13th May.
