Inter Milan’s interest in Hector Fort appears unlikely to lead anywhere, with the Barcelona youngster entirely focused on returning from injury and fighting for a starting role at the Camp Nou next season.
According to Sport, via FCInter1908, the 2006-born defender knows nothing of Inter’s interest and has no desire to leave Barcelona.
His contract runs until 2029, Elche hold no purchase option, and his heart remains firmly with the Catalan club.
Fort joined Elche on loan because opportunities under Hansi Flick were limited. He needed competitive football and the chance to grow.
However, his ambitions have not changed in the slightest.
“He left with the sole purpose of returning and becoming part of Barcelona’s squad next season,” Sport write.
Furthermore, the defender is currently focused entirely on his comeback from a lengthy shoulder injury.
He wants to use the remaining month and a half of the season to rediscover his best form before heading back to Barcelona.
Therefore, Inter’s interest, which emerged as a possible component of any Bastoni deal, finds no reciprocation from the player himself.
Indeed, Sport acknowledge that the attention from Inter may be flattering. But Fort’s focus is singular and his loyalty to Barcelona is unwavering.
