Former Leeds United loanee Djed Spence, whose Elland Road stint struggled to take off, has emerged as a possible target for champions Inter Milan, with Everton also linked.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the 2025/26 Serie A winners are assessing wing-back options and have Spence on a shortlist after their €30 million (£25.6m) move for Union Saint-Gilloise’s Anan Khalaili collapsed following a failed medical. The Athletic reported last week that Everton are eyeing the right-back as a potential replacement for Seamus Coleman, who left at the end of his contract this summer.

Spence was among the few 49ers Enterprises-era arrivals at Leeds that did not work out, his summer 2023 loan from Tottenham cut short in January after seven appearances. Injuries hampered him and Daniel Farke could not get him going.

A six-month switch to Bologna brought little improvement, but on returning to Tottenham he revived his career. Over the next two years he played 55 Premier League matches for Spurs, starting 42, and earned an England call-up for this summer’s World Cup. He has become a cult favourite, frequently coming on to help see out wins against Mexico and Norway.

Farke later said the club decided to end the loan, declined to criticise Spence and praised his potential, highlighting a standout display in the Ipswich win, while adding it felt the right call at the time. With interest now emerging, any deal is expected to be costly given his recent form.
