Inter Milan will officially announce the appointment of Cristian Chivu as their new coach on Monday.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that that will also be the day of Chivu’s first training session.
Inter Milan have decided upon Cristian Chivu to be their new coach. The 44-year-old will replace Simone Inzaghi, who has left to join Al-Hilal.
Inter had been working on snapping up Cesc Fabregas to become Inzaghi’s successor.
However, Como President Mirwan Suwarson strongly rebuffed the Nerazzurri’s interest, and stated that the Lariani would refuse to release the Spaniard.
Meanwhile, Genoa coach Patrick Vieira was another name reportedly on Inter’s shortlist.

Inter have already worked out all the details of Chivu’s arrival.
The 44-year-old will sign a two-year contract with the Nerazzurri, taking him until the end of June 2027. He is set to earn €2.5 million net per season.
Inter have met with Chivu in the past couple days to agree a contract. Therefore, it’s only a matter of time.
However, there are still some bureaucratic details to finish up with. Particularly Chivu’s release from Parma.
Therefore, nothing is official just yet.
But in the meantime, reports the Gazzetta, Inter and Chivu will spend this weekend in further talks, laying out their strategy for next season.
This will include tactics as well as the transfer market.
Then, after announcing Chivu officially on Monday, the Romanian will lead his first training session as Inter coach.
Following that, on Wednesday Inter will depart for the United States for the Club World Cup.
