Inter Milan are tracking young Hellas Verona midfielder Reda Belhyane as a possible replacement if Kristjan Asllani leaves the club.

This according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com. They report that the 20-year-old has been on the Nerazzurri’s radar as a midfield prospect for the future.

Inter are continually scouting the market for potential opportunities to bring in young players.

That is the case more than ever under the ownership of Oaktree Capital.

Since taking over at the Nerazzurri in May, Oaktree have made their vision for the club clear. They want to build a project around young players.

That means that the Inter owners are willing to invest in the transfer market.

But the priority is not to bring in veteran players, as has often been the case in recent years. Inter have signed players already well into their thirties such as Francesco Acerbi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Rather, the Inter owners have asked the club to look more at players with significant room to grow.

According to Calciomercato.com, one of the young players who has come to Inter’s attention is 20-year-old Verona midfielder Reda Belhyane.

Belhyane joined Verona from OGC Nice over the summer transfer window.

The France Under-18 international had made just a handful of appearances for Nice’s senior team last season.

However, this was enough to convince Verona that he could bolster their midfield.

The Gialloblu have earned a reputation for shrewd transfers of players who increase in value over the past few windows.

And Belhyane already appears to be another deal in that mould.

The 20-year-old has made a couple appearances for Verona already. Coach Paolo Zanetti looks to be ready to put his faith in the young midfielder at the heart of his team.

And Inter have taken notice.

According to CM, the Nerazzurri have a particular idea of Belhyane.

They see the Frenchman as a possible replacement if Kristjan Asllani were to leave the club.

Asllani has rejected offers to depart from Inter since arriving in 2022. However, the Albanian remains very much a backup option at the Nerazzurri.

Therefore, there is always a possibility of an Asllani sale or loan, should the former Empoli midfielder seek more playing time.

And according to CM, Belhyane is a player who Inter have earmarked as a possible like-for-like replacement in holding midfield.
