After hitting a dead end with Lookman, Inter explores the Akliouche option with a hefty check in hand.
Maghnes Akliouche
Maghnes Akliouche, the attacking midfielder from AS Monaco, has caught the eye of Inter Milan following a standout performance in a friendly on August 9. The Italian side, eager to bolster their attack, is now pursuing this lead alongside their ongoing Lookman negotiations.
Inter Milan officially made inquiries about Maghnes Akliouche after last Friday's friendly in Monaco. The French-Algerian playmaker impressed the Nerazzurri management by opening the scoring in just the second minute of a match that ended 2-1 in Inter's favor. This flash of brilliance has reignited the Lombard club’s interest, having already been in contact with the 23-year-old’s camp for several months.
Inter’s front office sees Akliouche as a viable alternative to Ademola Lookman, their top target this summer. Talks with Atalanta for the Nigerian have stalled, especially after a €45 million bid was rejected. This deadlock is pushing the Nerazzurri to look elsewhere for offensive reinforcements before the transfer window slams shut.
Monaco, meanwhile, has set Akliouche’s price tag at €70 million. The Principality club wants to keep hold of their gem but won’t rule out a sale if the offer meets their demands. Unfortunately for Inter, that figure is seen as excessive, forcing the Lombard side to pull back and keep hoping for a deal for the African Ballon d'Or winner.
