Inter Milan Vice-President Javier Zanetti admits that Parma defender Giovanni Leoni is “a very interesting player” for the Nerazzurri.
Zanetti spoke to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews. He suggested that Inter will “see if there’s a chance” to sign the 19-year-old this summer.
Inter Milan have been linked with Parma defender Giovanni Leoni in recent weeks.
Reportedly, the 19-year-old is high on the Nerazzurri’s shortlist of targets to bolster their defense.
This would certainly fall in line with Inter’s plan to focus more on young player. They are by all accounts aiming to lower their very high average age going into next season.
However, Leoni will not come cheap. Reportedly, Parma wants as much as €40 million to sell the teenage defender after an outstanding first season at the club.
Moreover, Inter are not without competition for Leoni’s signature. Reportedly, city rivals AC Milan are particularly keen. As are Juventus, and potentially foreign clubs like Liverpool or Barcelona.

Inter Milan Vice-President Javier Zanetti addressed his club’s interest in signing Giovanni Leoni. “He’s a very interesting young player,” the Nerazzurri executive said.
“Let’s see if it’s possible for us to sign him,” he continued.
“But now we need to focus on building a squad that can compete in all the competitions we have to play in,” Zanetti added.
Inter Milan are sure to have another gruelling season to come. Once again, they’ll have the Serie A campaign as well as the Coppa Italia and an expanded Champions League format to contend with.
