Cristian Chivu and Cesc Fabregas will lock horns for the fourth time this season when Inter Milan face Como in Coppa Italia action on Tuesday.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the two highly-rated young managers are chasing historic feats in cup football.
Cristian Chivu is on the brink of winning a coveted domestic double in his first season in charge of the Nerazzurri.
Indeed, after a 3-0 thrashing of Cagliari on Friday, Inter are one step away from lifting their 21st Serie A title.
With only five games left to play, Chivu’s charges boast an unassailable 12-point lead over reigning holders Napoli.
Chivu could become the first Inter Milan boss since Jose Mourinho to win both domestic trophies in one season.
Indeed, the ‘Special One’ inspired the Nerazzurri to a historic treble in 2010.
Furthermore, the last Italian club to secure Serie A supremacy and Coppa Italia glory in one season was Juventus eight years ago.
Meanwhile, Fabregas is looking to steer Como into the Coppa Italia final for the first time in the club’s history.
However, it’s fair to say that he has already achieved an important feat as Como’s only previous appearance in the semi-finals came in the 1985/86 season.
