Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu offered a major fitness update on Marcus Thuram in the build-up to tomorrow night’s clash against Kairat Almaty.
Speaking to Sky Sport via FCInterNews, Chivu confirmed that he has called up the French star for Wednesday’s match.
Marcus Thuram has been on the sidelines since late September when he picked up a hamstring injury.
Indeed, the 28-year-old slumped to a thigh issue during Inter’s 3-0 rout of Slavia Prague in the Champions League.
Therefore, he has been in the treatment room for 40 days.
However, the former Borussia Monchengladbach star has regained full fitness and will be in contention for the squad tomorrow.
Despite being called up, Thuram will most likely start on the bench, considering he’s lacking match fitness.
Instead, Francesco Pio Esposito and Ange-Yoan Bonny are likely to lead the line, with Lautaro Martinez expected to drop to the bench.
El Toro has made eight consecutive starts in all competitions, increasing the risk of fatigue.
Therefore, Cristian Chivu is considering resting his talismanic striker.

“He is fine,” Chivu confirmed. “He is called up. Then we need to evaluate if he can play or not.
“We want him 100% and we mustn’t take risks. Lately, he’s been missing for us.”
Meanwhile, Chivu also confirmed that Bonny and Esposito remain at their peak despite Inter’s brutal fixture schedule.
“They are fine,” he stated.
Furthermore, Chivu has urged his side not to take Kairat lightly.
“This is the Champions League,” he added. “We must approach this match like the others – with the utmost seriousness, the maximum commitment, and trying always to be our best version.
“The reaction after Napoli,” Chivu continued. “It wasn’t taken for granted, yet two wins followed.
“After a defeat, you must react – now continuity in results is needed, and our ambitions.”
