Inter Milan want to remove the release clause in the contract of striker Marcus Thuram at all costs this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They report that tying the Frenchman down to a new deal is a priority for the Nerazzurri.

Striker Marcus Thuram has really underlined his importance to Inter Milan this season.

The 27-year-old is currently the Nerazzurri’s top scorer in Serie A, with thirteen goals. He also has four assists in the league so far this campaign.

Meanwhile, Thuram is set to have a big role over the next few matches.

With Inter captain Lautaro Martinez recovering from a muscle injury. the pressure will fall on Thuram’s shoulders to carry the team’s attack.

The Frenchman will start alongside Joaquin Correa against Udinese tomorrow. Then, it will likely be Marko Arnautovic partnering Thuram in attack against AC Milan in the Coppa Italia.

Inter Milan Prioritize Marcus Thuram Extension With No Release Clause

Considering Thuram’s importance to Inter, the Frenchman has certainly earned consideration for a new contract.

The Frenchman signed a five-year deal when he joined Inter on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.

But now, the Nerazzurri are ready to reward Marcus Thuram with a contract extension with a wage increase.

And a key part of this will be getting rid of a release clause in the deal.

As things stand, there is a release clause worth around €85 million in Thuram’s contract.

And it is hardly impossible that big clubs in Europe could submit a bid of that size.

Therefore, Inter have made getting rid of that release clause an absolute priority in contract talks with Thuram.
