Inter Milan Wingback Rewarded For Champions League Performance In Team Of The Week | OneFootball

Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries has been recognised by UEFA for his outstanding performance in the Champions League.

The Dutch wing-back was named in the Team of the Week following the Nerazzurri’s 3–0 victory over Slavia Prague at San Siro.

Dumfries scored Inter’s second goal, with Captain Lautaro Martinez finding the back of the net either side of him.

UEFA highlighted both his attacking and defensive contributions.

They noted how crucial his display was to Cristian Chivu’s side maintaining their perfect start to the competition.

“Inter’s attack-minded wing-back raced into the five-metre box to score a goal and also helped defensively as they secured a second straight clean sheet in the convincing win over Slavia Praha.” reads the official UEFA explanation for his inclusion.

Dumfries’ goal was the second of the night and capped a dominant European showing for Inter.

Chivu’s side kicked off their Champions League campaign with maximum points after back-to-back victories.

Dumfries continues to impress under Chivu, picking up where he left off under former coach Simone Inzaghi.

Furthermore, the Dutchman has become an integral part of the Nerazzurri set up over the years.
