Ange-Yoan Bonny and Carlos Augusto are impressed with the strength in depth Inter showed in the Coppa Italia against Torino. ‘We play every tournament aiming to win.’

The Nerazzurri had gone 2-0 up by the dawn of the second half thanks to a Bonny header on the cross from debutant Issiaka Kamate, and Andy Diouf.

Sandro Kulenovic got one back for Torino, and there was a scare when Matteo Prati had the ball in the net, but that goal for 2-2 was ruled offside.

“Torino are always a complicated opponent, but we are happy that we go through to the next phase,” Bonny told Sport Mediaset.

The striker went off with a cut to his knee, but it does not seem to be anything particularly serious.

“In a game like this, you have to do battle, and we’re glad we did. There are many strikers who are doing well, we are all at the disposal of the team and want to continue like this.”

This result means Inter will face either Napoli or Como in the Coppa Italia semi-final, which is the only stage of the competition to be played over two legs.

The quarter-final was played on neutral turf at the U-Power Stadium in Monza, as San Siro is getting ready for the opening ceremony of the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics on Friday.

“The young players work with us during the week in training, we have faith in them, they did well and can keep going like this,” Carlos Augusto told Sport Mediaset.

Inter are top of the Serie A table, into the Coppa Italia semi-final, and will play Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League play-offs, but last term came close in everything only to finish empty-handed.

“We know what happened last season, but we are Inter, we play every tournament aiming to win and will do everything possible to win.”
