Ivan Provedel is closing in on a move to Inter, his agent has said, as the Lazio goalkeeper targets a summer switch. Gianni Rava added that his client is a long-time Inter supporter.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Provedel has agreed a three-year contract worth around €1.5m per season. The clubs are said to have a verbal agreement on a €3m fee, with the goalkeeper entering the final year of his Lazio deal.
“We’re very close, we’ve been working in the right direction,” said Rava. “I hope that we’ll soon be able to close this transfer. Let’s hope for the best.”
Rava later added: “Provedel has always been an Inter fan and I think it would be the closing of a full circle for him in terms of his career. He’s a great player and will come here to put his cards on the table, we’ll see. We’re confident.”
Inter are bringing in Provedel to replace the departing Yann Sommer, who has served as the club’s first-choice for the last three seasons and will leave when his contract expires at the end of June. The Nerazzurri had looked at more expensive first-choice options such as Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario, but have since decided to promote recent understudy Josep Martinez and bring in Provedel as experienced, Serie A-proven back-up instead.
