Internacional attempted to sign Flamengo forward Everton Cebolinha in the last transfer window, but the deal did not happen. He is under contract until December.
BandSports reports that club director Fabinho Soldado made the approach. He previously worked at Flamengo before moving to Corinthians.
Talks did not progress due to the 30-year-old's high monthly cost and his strong ties to Grêmio, Internacional's rivals. Palmeiras, Cruzeiro and Corinthians are monitoring his situation.
Cebolinha has made 22 appearances for Flamengo this season, averaging 38 minutes per game, with three goals and two assists. He has been used sparingly, with Samuel Lino an undisputed starter under Leonardo Jardim.
A Grêmio academy graduate, Cebolinha played for the Porto Alegre side from 2013 to 2020, winning the Copa do Brasil and the Libertadores.
Flamengo return to action in July with three mid-season friendlies in Portugal, the first against Benfica.
