Ipswich Town are reportedly in talks to sign former Everton defender Ben Godfrey on loan from Atalanta after a miserable first six months for the 26-year-old in Bergamo.

Ipswich discussing loan move for Atalanta’s Godfrey

According to reports from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Ipswich are currently discussing the possibility of signing Godfrey on loan from Atalanta.

The two-time England international has been made available for transfer in the January window, despite having only joined Atalanta in the summer.

Reports in Italy claimed that Atalanta spent somewhere in the region of €10m plus bonuses to bring Godfrey over to Bergamo from Everton in the summer.

Godfrey has struggled for game time under Gian Piero Gasperini. He has in fact only been utilised for 92 minutes this season, split across five different substitute appearances: One in Serie A, two in the Champions League, one in the UEFA Super Cup and one in the Coppa Italia.

The Englishman is considerably more experienced in the Premier League, however, with 102 top flight appearances to his name from his time with Everton and Norwich City.
