Heimir Halgrimsson spoke about Evan Ferguson.
The Irish national team coach spoke on the eve of the match against Hungary which Ireland will be playing tomorrow, Saturday, September 6, in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The coach said: “Italian football is different; spaces are tighter, there’s less time to think. Ferguson is very physical, but in Serie A, defenders don’t give you any breathing room. This is helping him grow.”
“He’s changing. He’s much smarter, quicker on his movements, and he also seems leaner,” Halgrimsson continued on Ferguson.
“He’s training twice a day; it’s new for him and it’s having a positive impact on him. He’s fitter, and above all, he seems happy. He’s having fun, he feels confident, and he appreciates the playing time he’s getting. I’ve been following him for a year; he’s had a difficult time, but I know he’ll do well in Italy.”
