According to consistent media reports, RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande is on FC Bayern’s wish list and it has now been revealed how much the record champions would be willing to spend on the attacker in the summer
In the latest edition of the BILD podcast Bayern Insider, Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl analyze the options surrounding Yan Diomande, Serge Gnabry and the growing squad density – and explain why the record champions need to think very carefully about which path they take
With the return of Jamal Musiala and an overall high level of quality in attack, FC Bayern is facing a complex situation. New names are being traded, existing contracts are up for debate and young players are pushing to join. One name that has recently emerged is Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig – a player who is being closely monitored internally

According to information from the podcast, Bayern have at least looked at the Leipzig player’s profile. However, no official approach has been made. „Not true“, clarifies Tobi Altschäffl when asked whether Bayern have already made a concrete enquiry to RB Leipzig. Although Diomande is highly interesting from a sporting point of view, the financial ideas differ significantly
Christian Falk explains the problem. „A maximum of 60 million“ is said to be Bayern’s internal limit. Leipzig, on the other hand, are thinking in completely different dimensions. „It should be over 100 million,“ reports Falk. This discrepancy makes a short-term deal extremely unlikely
The interest from the Premier League makes the personnel issue even more explosive. Falk refers to concrete developments. „Liverpool are really interested in him,“ he says. The Reds are already said to be preparing an offer that comes close to what Leipzig have in mind
This exacerbates the situation for FC Bayern. „If you don’t get him now, you’ll never get him again,“ warns Altschäffl. FC Bayern is also well aware of this. After a strong season, Diomande is threatened with the classic route via England – and thus a market from which Bayern will find it difficult to bring players back
At the same time, the future of Serge Gnabry is being discussed. Falk and Altschäffl reject reports of an imminent signing. „Not true“ is the verdict of both podcasters on a quick deal. Nevertheless, the direction is clear. „Both sides are basically in agreement,“ explains Falk
An extension of two years is planned – albeit on adjusted terms. FC Bayern continue to see Gnabry as a valuable building block. „He should be the backup for Harry Kane, he should be the backup on the ten and can be the number one on the wing at any time,“ says Falk, describing the international’s versatile role
With the return of Jamal Musiala and young talents such as Lennart Karl, competition in the attack is becoming increasingly intense. Altschäffl makes it clear that this also has an impact on young players. „You can already see that there is less and less space on the bench,“ he says. Talents such as Wisdom Mike are the first to suffer from this development
For FC Bayern, this means that every offensive decision has to be right. Whether they can or want to afford an expensive prospect like Diomande depends not only on the price, but also on the question of how much movement there will be internally.
