So far Kevin De Bruyne has missed Manchester City’s past 9 games due to a groin injury. The Manchester City club legend returned to training a couple of weeks ago but has yet to return to the pitch. Speaking during the embargoed section of his pre-game press conference ahead of Saturday’s clash with Bournemouth Pep Guardiola has provided a positive update on De Bruyne’s recovery from the injury.
Pep Guardiola was asked about De Bruyne’s recovery ahead of City’s trip to the Vitality Stadium. The Manchester City manager had a positive update on De Bruyne’s condition. He told the media: “He’s getting better, yeah. In the last two, three, four days, the #ManCity doctor said to me he made a step forward in terms of [reducing] the pain.”
Pep Guardiola’s latest update on De Bruyne’s condition is good news for Manchester City. The champions are currently in the midst of an injury crisis. The sooner that Guardiola has a full complement of players to select from, the better it will be for City. But that scenario does appear to be a little way off just yet.
As for Kevin De Bruyne, it does appear that his return to the pitch is imminent. After missing City’s past 9 games there has been concern about the extent of the groin injury he sustained against Inter Milan in September. Updates on De Bruyne’s condition have been scarce but Guardiola’s latest update is good news for the champions. De Bruyne is needed on the pitch as his presence has been missed by the world champions.
It would still appear that Saturday’s Premier League clash with Bournemouth is too soon for De Bruyne to return. But it now appears that De Bruyne’s return is imminent rather than unknown based on Guardiola’s latest update.
