Liverpool secured a 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League at Anfield on Saturday.
The visitors had the better chances in the opening exchanges. Chris Richards headed over Adam Wharton’s cross before Freddie Woodman kept out Brennan Johnson’s long-range effort.
The Eagles continued to mount pressure and almost took the lead when Johnson met Ismaila Sarr’s cutback pass, but he fired over the bar.
Liverpool were awarded a penalty in the 23rd minute after Mohamed Salah went down in the area under the challenge of Johnson, but the decision was overturned after a VAR review.
Alexander Isak opened the scoring after 35 minutes, finishing from close range to give the hosts the lead.
Andy Robertson made it 2-0 to give Liverpool a healthy advantage at half-time.
Borna Sosa could’ve pulled one back for the visitors after the break, but he dragged his effort wide.
Daniel Munoz reduced the deficit in the 71st minute after he chipped Woodman into an empty net.
The Eagles almost equalised after Jorgen Strand Larsen chipped the onrushing Woodman, but his effort struck the inside of the post, and Liverpool cleared their lines.
Florian Wirtz completed the scoring in injury time after he met Alexis Mac Allister’s pass to seal the victory for the Reds.
Liverpool have leapfrogged Aston Villa into fourth place in the Premier League standings. They lost at Fulham earlier today.
