Derby County will be getting ready for the January transfer window in the coming days, with plans already in place to make the changes necessary in their fight against relegation.

The Rams have taken great strides in recent weeks in this battle, and they have started to prove that they have more than enough to beat the drop and finish in a mid-table position.

Manager Paul Warne has stated that he is looking to add more firepower to his forward line in the new year, with Louie Barry just one of the names linked to Pride Park.

However, it was reported by Alan Nixon via Patreon on Sunday that Derby are keeping a watchful eye on Liverpool's Jayden Danns.

Derby County told to look at more experienced name than Jayden Danns

The 18-year-old made a name for himself last season under Jürgen Klopp, featuring in all four of the major competitions that the Reds were involved in, including the Europa League and Premier League.

He scored twice in a 30-minute cameo against Southampton in the FA Cup, and has shown great promise while playing for his side's Under-18s and Under-21s.

His game time with the first team has been extremely limited so far in 2024/25, and there will be a desire from Liverpool to see their young star play regularly in senior football as they battle away for the Premier League title.

Football League World has asked their Derby Fan Pundit, Shaun Woodward, whether he believes that Danns would be a good fit for the Rams, or if Warne already has enough players similar to him at his disposal.

Shaun told FLW: "Jayden Danns could go on to have a great career, but I think right now he isn't the type of player Derby need to be bringing in January.

"We need to bring in players that have already had quite a bit of game time, a bit hardened to League One or the Championship.

"We haven't really got the time to be experimenting and allowing a player to find their feet, so to speak.

"So, for me, we need to bring in an established player, someone that's up to speed and knows what the Championship's all about."

Shaun added: "I'm sure Danns will have a great career, but is he any different to what we already have compared to a few of the other young players we have in those areas?

"I don't think he is any better than Dajaune Brown, so I would be looking elsewhere personally."

Derby County's other oan deals have been hit and miss

While there will be a desire to bring in more quality in January, the Rams have to be careful about who is coming through the door at Pride Park, especially on loan.

Derby have had very mixed performances from their current loanees, with Jerry Yates and Nat Phillips the standouts so far. Marcus Harness has played an important role for Warne, however, Tawanda Chirewa has struggled for minutes and fitness since arriving from Wolves.

David Ozoh, on the other hand, looked to be a fantastic piece of business in the summer. But, injury problems have forced him out of action since September, although he is getting closer and closer to a return.

Danns has the potential to be a very good striker in the coming years, and if Derby do miss out on Barry, then he would be an excellent back-up. Nevertheless, there will be a desire from supporters to see a more permanent answer to their striker issues.
