Como 1907, managed by former FC Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas, are positioning themselves to sign Andres Cuenca, an 18-year-old centre-back from Barça Atletic.

The 18-year-old starlet’s contract with the Catalans expires at the end of the season, leading to speculation over his future at the club.

In recent days, reports in Italy suggested that several Italian clubs were competing for his signing in the winter transfer window.

But it appears that Como, led by Fabregas, have now taken a concrete step towards securing his services.

Offer made

According to information from Gianluigi Longari on Sportitalia (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Como are the most interested club in signing Cuenca from Barcelona and have already submitted an offer for the player.

The proposal from the Serie A outfit includes a clause entitling the Italian club to 25% of any future transfer fee.

As mentioned earlier, Cuenca remains under contract with Barcelona until the end of the season. His potential makes him an attractive option for clubs that closely monitor emerging talents.

The centre-back made his first-team debut for Barcelona during the 2024-25 season under Hansi Flick. He played six minutes in the closing stages of a UEFA Champions League match against Young Boys.

Como plan on signing Cuenca without paying any fee, given his contract situation, but will offer Barça a 25% future sell-on clause.

The Italian club’s idea is to secure the 18-year-old starlet’s services and loan him out to a different club to help continue his development – Sporting Gijon are already showing an interest.
