Italian clubs spent 3rd most in record-breaking transfer window: Stats, facts and figures

Only the English and German clubs spent more than the Italians during the summer 2025 transfer window, which set a new record for the amount spent on transfer fees across the world.
All told, €8.36 billion was spent on transfer fees across the world according to reports from Sky Sport Italia. That represents an increase of over 50% compared to the summer transfer window of 2024.
All told, there were roughly 12,000 international transfers across the globe this summer. Across Italy’s professional divisions, 307 new signings were made, while 394 players were sold.

All told, Italian clubs walked away with a net spend of around €54m. That ranks as the eighth-highest net spend in the world, but pales in comparison to the net spend of the Premier League, which equated to roughly €1.415 billion.
Italian clubs spent a combined figure of around €815m on transfer fees this summer, behind only the German clubs (€841m) and the English clubs (€2.73 billion)
Italian clubs raised the fourth-most through transfer fees as well this summer. Around €762 million was taken, compared to just over €1 billion by the German sides, €1.089 billion by the French sides and €1.33 billion by the English sides.

Ligue 1 was the most popular shopping market for Italian clubs this summer, with 44 players making that move. 28 players came in from Spain, 24 from England, 21 from Germany and 20 from the Netherlands.
Meanwhile, Spanish clubs bought the most players from Italy this summer, with 37 players making that move all told. 30 players moved over to France, 30 to Germany, 24 to Turkey and 18 to Romania.
