Udinese, Norwich City and MLS clubs are all tracking Bristol City's Ross McCrorie, who would be allowed to leave Ashton Gate for £3.5m.
Udinese are looking to sign Bristol City’s Ross McCrorie, with former boss Liam Manning also keen on working with the player again at Norwich City.
The Robins enjoyed a brilliant opening day of the Championship campaign under new manager Gerhard Struber, as they won 4-1 against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
It was a great performance by Bristol City, and McCrorie was hugely impressive at right wing-back, as he scored one and set up another in the convincing victory.
However, despite his importance to the team, it appears McCrorie could be on the move, as Herald Scotland revealed that interest in the 27-year-old is building.
They claim that Udinese are tracking McCrorie as they look to tie up a deal for another Scotsman in the form of Motherwell's teenager midfielder Lennon Miller.
Unnamed MLS clubs are also keen on McCrorie, but so are Norwich City, who are managed by his former boss at the Robins - Liam Manning.
Interestingly, it’s stated that Bristol City are looking for a fee of around £3.5m for McCrorie, if they are to sell him before the deadline, which is on September 1.
McCrorie signed a contract at Ashton Gate that runs until the summer of 2026, although Bristol City do have the option to extend that by another 12 months, so they won’t be under pressure to cash in on the versatile defender this summer.
The prospect of selling McCrorie for just £3.5m won’t go down well with Bristol City fans, and they will hope the club are doing all they can to keep him at the club.
Of course, it’s unrealistic to say in the modern game that he will categorically not be sold, as every player has a price, but McCrorie should be commanding a bigger fee than that.
He has been a good player for the club since his arrival, with injuries previously restricting the impact he could make on the pitch. But, when he is available, he can make big contributions - as he proved against the Blades on Saturday.
McCrorie also had a positive pre-season, and it seems clear that he is ideally suited to what Struber wants from him in this system, so there’s no denying that losing him would be a big blow.
So, it will be interesting to see how this plays out, but the focus for Bristol City will be on improving the squad, and losing McCrorie would be a major setback, particularly given the optimism from the opening day win.
