Italian teams will reportedly not be able to afford Manchester United target Viktor Gyokeres.
The Red Devils are keen to bolster their forward line and have been linked to a move with numerous strikers.
There were reports yesterday that Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic is still being tracked as an option for the club.
Nonetheless, the strongest links have been to Ruben Amorim’s former forward at Sporting, Gyokeres.
There has been a lot of drama around the player and his future this week, as he is said to be “furious” with his current club for allegedly going back on an agreement to sell the player for €70 million.
Arsenal and Juventus are also reported to be interested in the player but journalist Gianluca Luca Marchetti, has claimed that a deal would be almost impossible for Juventus or in fact, any Italian club to pull off.
Speaking to Sky Italia (via TuttoJuve), he reported that a deal for the lethal Swedish striker is not on the cards for Juventus right now.
Commenting on his future he said, “Gyokeres-Juve? I think that at this moment the player is destined for other shores.”
He elaborated, “there are figures that are unaffordable for Italian teams. There are other teams after him, especially Arsenal.”
The Gunners have been reported to be in “advanced talks” for the striker and a formal bid is said to be “imminent”.
Nonetheless, Arsenal are still heavily interested in Benjamin Sesko, so it is hardly a foregone conclusion that they will pursue Gyokeres.
United manager Ruben Amorim is said to be desperate to land his former striker but the club must reportedly sell to be able to afford a deal for the striker who smashed in 39 league goals this season.
Nonetheless, the removal of Italian teams out of the race will certainly come as a boost for United’s chances of doing a deal for Gyokeres this summer.
