Italy consider appointing Ranieri in case of Spalletti’s exit | OneFootball

The heavy defeat against Norway, in addition to having highlighted all of Italy’s technical and tactical difficulties, has complicated the path towards qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.

Spalletti’s position is at risk more than ever before, also in light of the disappointing Euros campaign a year ago.

The meeting with Gravina is scheduled for June 10. The match on Monday 9 June with Moldova at this point becomes decisive for the coach.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport, in the event of Spalletti’s exit, there are two main candidates for the Azzurri bench.

The favorite is Stefano Pioli who is leaving Al-Nassr.

Behind him is Ranieri, who however has announced his retirement as a coach and has become a director at Roma.

Otherwise, the candidacies of De Rossi and Pirlo are also being evaluated.
