Alessandro Bastoni will play in the centre of the Inter Milan back three in this weekend’s Serie A match against Venezia.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is still dealing with some defensive injuries ahead of this weekend.
On Sunday Inter travel to Venice to face Venezia. They will do so with Benjamin Pavard as part of the squad, as the Frenchman is ready to return from a thigh injury.
However, Francesco Acerbi still will not be back.
And meanwhile, Stefan de Vrij is also not in ideal condition physically after the Supercoppa Italiana.
According to the Gazzetta, Pavard will not start on Sunday. At most, the Frenchman will get a run-out in the second half, easing him back into the team.
Therefore, Yann Bisseck is likely to start on the right of the back three. Alternatively, Matteo Darmian could also start there.
But the real conundrum for Nerazzurri coach Inzaghi comes in the centre of defense.
Acerbi is still not available, and de Vrij’s condition means that the Inter coach is very reluctant to start the Dutchman.
Therefore, the Gazzetta report, Inzaghi is likely to opt for the same solution that he did against Como last month.
That will mean that Italian international Alessandro Bastoni starts in the middle of the back three.
Meanwhile, Carlos Augusto will line up on the left side of the defense.
