Italy are assessing a call-up for Corinthians striker Yuri Alberto as part of planning for the 2030 World Cup cycle, according to Meu Timao.
His camp are understood to view the option positively, while the chances of a move to Italian football in the mid-year transfer window have also increased.
Yuri Alberto remains eligible for another national team because his only Brazil appearance came in a friendly against Morocco in February 2023, not an official competition fixture.
Earlier this year he briefly left Corinthians’ pre-season to finalise Italian citizenship, secured his passport, then returned the following week.
Roma submitted a €28 million offer in August as the European window neared its close, which Corinthians rejected, before club representatives met his agents in November 2025. In January 2026, Roma’s rivals Lazio bid €22 million, which was also turned down.
He is Corinthians’ top scorer this season with five goals in 14 matches. Overall he has 81 goals and 22 assists for the club, totalling 103 goal involvements, and has won three trophies, the Paulistão, Copa do Brasil and Supercopa do Brasil.
Former Corinthians forward Giovane also impressed in Italy, moving to Hellas Verona for free before joining Napoli for €20 million.
Italy have not reached a World Cup since a group-stage exit in 2014, missing 2018, 2022 and 2026, though they won Euro 2021. They will co-host Euro 2032 with Türkiye.
