Celtic reached the halfway point in the Scottish Premiership with a healthy 13 point lead over dead-rubber specialist theRangers.

St Mirren, the conquerors of theRangers on Boxing Day, were the visitors to Celtic Park this afternoon but barely troubled Kasper Schmeichel all afternoon in what was a fairly routine win for Celtic.

Brendan Rodgers made four changes from the side that lost at Ibrox with Trusty, McCowan, Engels and Idah all starting and Scales, Hatate, Bernardo and Kyogo all dropping to the bench? Rotation? Possibly but none could have any complaints.

Two goals from Nicolas Khun either side of Austin Trusty’s first Celtic goal settled the one-sided contest and Adam Idah had one chopped off for a tight offside.

Afterwards the Celtic manager spoke to BBC Scotland and was delighted with the response from his players. “It’s a very good afternoon for us. The effort of the players, the movement of the players, the quality that they showed in the game was a really, really good level.

“[Nicolas Kuhn] still has more to go. We play with fast wingers who have the possibility to create goals and score goals because of how we play. For him and his numbers this season, it’s really impressive.”
