As the full-time professional side, The Toffees go into the game as huge favourites to progress to the next round.
There are 18 places between Everton and third tier West Bromwich Albion in the footballing pyramid but Sørensen says that games against lesser-ranked opponents are never easy and that you can’t take anything for granted.
“They try to play and they do different things in different phases of the game,” Sørensen said when commenting on West Bromwich Albion’s qualities in the pre-match press conference. “Any time we play a team from a lower league, it’s never a walkover, you have to be at your best and showcase yourself to open up their organisation and so on.
“Thursday night under the lights is a good occasion to display some good football. We will rotate a bit but not massively. We are looking forward to it and I think it’ll be a good day hopefully.”
The tie will be played out at the Alexander Stadium, an 18,000-capacity athletics arena in Birmingham. The surroundings are very unique but Sørensen says that his side will be well-prepared, just like they were when they defeated Newcastle United 3-1 in the Subway Women’s League Cup in similar surroundings a few weeks’ ago.
He said “We always have to look at the conditions and take that into account with the way that we approach the game. We will make the final adjustments when we are there but we will speak about it beforehand that it’s not the same conditions that we normally go into. When we previously played [at an athletics stadium], we adapted really well.”
Going on to comment on Everton’s Adobe Women’s FA Cup ambitions, Sørensen said that the aim is to enjoy a long cup run where his side challenge the very best.
He said “It’s a competition that sits away from where we are in the league and hopefully, we can go on a good run.
“We’ve shown this season that we can beat the best teams in the league on the day, so in the FA Cup where things are decided on the day, that’s what we will strive for.”
Everton’s Adobe Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie at West Bromwich Albion kicks-off at 7.30pm on Thursday evening.
