Harry Kane remains the measure of all things at FC Bayern – both in sporting terms and in the media. Hardly a day goes by without speculation about the future of the English goalscorer. Statements from Spain recently caused a stir: Harry Kane is „an object of desire“ at FC Barcelona. Now the 32-year-old has taken a stand himself – and made a clear commitment to the Munich club
The debate was triggered by comments made by Xavier Vilajoana, a candidate for the presidency of FC Barcelona, who publicly stated at an election event that contact had already been made with Kane’s entourage. „We have to be prudent and professional. We are looking at different profiles and Kane has one of them. He is a goalscorer, a team player and a ‚killer‘ in a confined space, which Barça needs,“ said Vilajoana
After the 3-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, Kane was asked about the rumours – and reacted remarkably calmly. „It’s very flattering,“ the Bayern striker initially explained, before clearing up the speculation: „I haven’t heard from anyone. Of course, my father and brother deal with these matters, so I’m not sure if they’ve heard anything, but they haven’t told me anything.“
What’s more, Kane made it clear that he believes the discussion is inappropriate at this stage. „I think it’s silly to talk about it in the middle of the season. I’m enjoying being here on the pitch. Of course, people always talk about it because I’m the type of striker who scores goals. But my focus is here at Bayern Munich,“ the Englishman made unmistakably clear
A clear signal in the direction of Spain – and a reassuring one for those in charge at Säbener Straße, as Kane is not only indispensable in sporting terms, but also the face of the current Bayern project

Sporting director Max Eberl also commented on the emerging rumours before kick-off against Frankfurt – and chose a mixture of irony and plain language. The fact that Kane was „an object of desire“ in Barcelona made the Bayern boss smile. With regard to Vilajoana’s statements, Eberl said: „If you really have no chance in a presidential election, then I’ll just throw something out there. That’s what seems to have happened.“
Vilajoana had already caused a stir on the X platform on Thursday with a photomontage showing Kane in the Catalans‘ jersey – an action that is perceived in Munich more as an election campaign maneuver than a realistic transfer offensive
The fact is that the England international’s contract runs until the summer of 2027. Bayern would like to extend his contract early. At the end of January, Eberl confirmed that initial negotiations had already taken place – a clear sign that the German record champions are planning for the long term with their top goalscorer.
