Ivan Juric discusses Roma’s dependency on Paulo Dybala | OneFootball

Roma manager Ivan Juric took time to reflect on Paulo Dybala’s impact on the team and how the Giallorossi have grown too dependent on him.

After deciding the leave Dybala on the bench for the duration of yesterday’s entire fixture against Venezia, Juric explained his choice in his post-match presser.

“He is fine, all the tests came out negative, but we don’t want to risk anything,” he said. “We made the decision, came to the conclusion that he is too important for us and the season is still long and we didn’t use him today.”

“He is a special guy, a special player. In my opinion, to improve Roma, when he is not there, we need to work on the gameplan, on our style of play, on our passing, and understand exactly where to position ourselves to get better circulation and more speed with the ball.”

“When he is there, in certain moments of the game, it is better to let him do it, because he has a way of making the team play that is impressive. There is no need to tell him to stay here or there, because he does it himself and he does it with logic.”

“In my opinion, with other players you need to work a lot on the positions, on where to be to recover the ball and give continuity to the game. You need to get used to playing both with him and without him.”

“I think we can improve a lot in creating our own game: in the first two games we did very well, today a little less, but all the foundations are there to do well.”
