Boss Ivan Juric made a massive injury return claim the other day. Going by it, Southampton legend Adam Lallana will return to the Saints squad for their Anfield Trip next.
Answer, who do you think is the most reputed Southampton squad player currently? Well, I heard your reply from miles away. Surely, it's none other than our beloved legend Adam Lallana.
In fact, for what he's achieved, he can be considered among the best players Southampton has ever produced. Such has been the player's legacy.
That's why when Lallana returned to the Saints last summer, for one final dance, there was excitement everywhere. But fast forward to now, the move feels as if it never happened.
Sadly, in an injury-plagued campaign, the 36-year-old has had rare moments to impress the Southampton crowd.
But, hey, you would want to witness the midfielder's magic at least once more, right? Well, then here's how your dream may turn into a reality.
Though currently injured, Adam Lallana is set to return by the next Southampton matchday. This is per boss Ivan Juric, who made the exciting claim a few days ago.
As quoted by the Daily Echo, in the Chelsea pre-match address, Juric had talked of Lallana, saying: "I think in the next game he will be in the team. The one after the Chelsea game."
And guess what, who does Southampton face next? It's Lallana's ex-team Liverpool.
To think it could have been anyone but it's the Reds, where the midfielder won the Champions League. Facing them at Anfield would be a timeless moment itself and if by chance, Lallana leads the Saints to a victory against a Slot-less Liverpool side, it would be just picture-perfect.
If that happens, it could be the ideal career end for the journeyman, who has had an illustrious path featuring for Bournemouth, Brighton, Liverpool, and currently Southampton.
But, again what we ask for would require a once-in-a-while miracle? Still, until the fixture's result, the hope remains for a Southampton win.
