Strasbourg head coach Liam Rosenior has hinted that his time with the Alsatians has come to an end on the back of an 1-1 away draw against OGC Nice. The 41-year-old is the leading contender to replace Enzo Maresca at BlueCo-owned Chelsea FC. Rosenior has denied any concrete approach from Strasbourg’s “sister club“, but the former Hull City FC manager seemed to be already looking back on his tenure with the Ligue 1 club.
“This club has given me so much, so many good memories, so many good times, the players, the fans, it’s a great city“, Rosenior said. He added that Ligue 1 was an outstanding league with outstanding teams and that those last 18 months as Strasbourg manager were the best of his professional career. “I’ve been privileged to be manager of this football club. And until somebody tells me or something changes, I’ll still be privileged in this moment.”
L’Equipe reports that Joaquin Panichelli, who scored Strasbourg’s only goal of the evening from the spot, met Rosenior while leaving the mixed zone at Nice’s Allianz Riviera. The Brit gave the Argentine a warm embrace, as if Panichelli and Rosenior were not expected to see each other for Monday’s training session. The outlet adds that there is very little doubt that Rosenior will join Chelsea very soon.
