However the Celtic manager is well aware that Sunday’s match will be far from easy against a Thistle side who have impressed this season and deserve the utmost respect from the current cup holders.
“Always a difficult game,” Rodgers noted. “I think that you can’t go in anything other than fully prepared. I’m really looking forward to it.
“I’ve actually missed Partick Thistle, I used to enjoy going there, just for games when I was here the first time. I don’t know if it’s because I live closeby to it but I just felt a real traditional football stadium, the history of Partick Thistle up here in Scotland. So I’ve missed it.

“We went there for a game towards the end of last season, it was one of the finals for the B Team (Glasgow Cup Final), so I’m really looking forward to going back. Mark (Wilson) will have his team well organised and they will be vey hard to beat but the onus is on us, if we want to get to Hampden then we’ve got to get through this game.”
With no VAR this weekend as Thistle are a Championship side, will it be, in Brendan’s view, refreshing to watch a game where the referees decision is final? “Yes, it will be,” the Celtic manager said, before turning his mind back to the VAR controversy at Rugby Park on Sunday.

“I think we’ve all adjusted to the VAR and in fairness to the VAR incident, lots of people will be looking at it and they’ll be chat whether it was or not, but in terms of the actual rules in what the SFA rules and what they are guided by then of course, that’s why they came out early and said it was.
And on the match at Firhill he said: “So no VAR and that will bring a different side to it again there will probably be moments in the game when everyone wishes there was VAR!

“But I’m really looking forward to the football game itself and looking to put in a performance that can take us through into the semi-finals.”
