FC Bayern still have to wait for Jamal Musiala to return to the squad for the 5-0 friendly win over RB Salzburg – a minor setback on the long road back, but one that is not making anyone in Munich nervous
Following his serious injury at the Club World Cup, Musiala has been working on his comeback for months. The 22-year-old recently returned to team training, but has now taken a short break. After the match, sporting director Max Eberl openly explained why Bayern deliberately decided not to field him
„Jamal still had a minimal feeling for it in training. It was a precautionary measure,“ said Eberl. There is no real nervousness at Säbener Straße after this relapse. Rather, it is a normal reaction after such a long period of absence. „He was injured at the beginning of July and returned to team training in December. After such a phase, it is completely normal that you get a little dampener in the load and feel something,“ the Bayern boss continued

Despite the renewed break, optimism remains high. Eberl made it very clear that they do not want to take any unnecessary risks, but that the time of his return is already foreseeable. „We don’t want to take any risks, but it’s a matter of days,“ emphasized the sports director
Sporting director Christoph Freund had also recently expressed his confidence and described a January call-up as „more than realistic“. Coach Vincent Kompany echoed the same sentiment ahead of the Salzburg game. The Belgian made it clear that it was not about pressure, but about a controlled build-up. „If he maybe gets a few minutes in one of the next three games, then we’ll be happy. Everything is going well,“ said Kompany
So FC Bayern are remaining calm and Musiala should return when his body and mind are ready – without rushing, but with a clear perspective.
