He made his debut for Leeds United at 16.

In the Premier League he featured for Newcastle 94 times, Aston Villa 100, Manchester City 147 and Liverpool 230, with 964 professional matches for club and country overall.

Across 24 English seasons he produced 56 goals and 90 assists. He registered a goal or an assist in 23 of those campaigns, with 2024-2025 the only season without a direct contribution, giving him the most seasons with at least one goal involvement.

Milner lifted the 2019 Champions League with Liverpool and won 13 trophies in total, including three Premier League titles in 2012, 2014 and 2020.
