Jamie Carragher has made a shock transfer prediction that would see Chelsea forward Cole Palmer sign for Manchester United.

Palmer was battling for a place in the Man City team this time last year but now finds himself as Chelsea’s star player.

It beggars belief that City sold Palmer but he made 41 appearances before completing a £40m switch to Stamford Bridge. On reflection, it’s one of the best deals Chelsea pulled off in recent years, and I’m sure City regret their decision a year on.

He scored 25 goals and contributed 15 assists in 45 appearances during his first season in west London. On top of that, Palmer won the Premier League Young Player of the Season award for 2023/24.

However, former Liverpool defender turned pundit Carragher has caused Chelsea fans to panic because he feels ‘another poor season’ for the Blues could lead to key players like Palmer leaving the club.

Carragher can even see Manchester United making an audacious move for Palmer, which I’m sure would make his season ticket holder dad very proud.

“Something’s just come to me here,” Carragher said on an episode of The Overlap.

“If Chelsea have another poor season, we were talking earlier about Manchester United having a real problem on that right wing.

“He [Palmer] is a big Man United fan isn’t he? Would that not be something that United should visit maybe in 12 months if it doesn’t go well?

“You know what, I think that could happen. Yeah, Cole Palmer to Man United.”

Palmer’s form in his first season at Chelsea earned him a place in Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad, before he decided to leave his role as manager following the tournament.

I would take him at United in a heartbeat.
