Michael Carrick’s Manchester United carried on their impressive run with a 1-0 win over Everton at Hill Dickson Stadium.
That result stretched United’s unbeaten streak to six matches under caretaker Carrick, and 10 across all competitions.
Even so, the victory was far from emphatic. Everton fought hard and made United work for every inch.
The Toffees caused real problems, and it was United’s goalkeeper Senne Lammens who stole the spotlight. The Belgian produced a string of crucial saves, keeping United in the contest when Everton pressed forward.
Ultimately, it took a moment of brilliance in the 71st minute to break the deadlock.
Cunha launched a long ball into Bryan Mbeumo’s stride. The Cameroonian managed to receive and control the ball before squaring it to Benjamin Sesko.
Sesko, arriving at full tilt, rifled his shot past Jordan Pickford into the bottom corner.
That well‑executed move sealed all three points for United.
In the aftermath, Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, via Liverpool Echo, offered a candid reflection on how the game slipped away:
“I think throughout the 90 minutes, we were the better team.
“A lapse in concentration probably killed us on the counterattack, and it’s another home game where we’ve not picked up any points, and we’re disappointed.”
Branthwaite’s assessment is spot on; it only took one lapse, one counter, one decisive strike to swing the contest.
For United, yes, the win keeps momentum alive, but fans will expect more authority in performances. They will want victories that showcase dominance rather than narrow escapes.
With Champions League qualification in sight, fans are looking for a strong finish to the 2025–26 campaign.
