West Ham United defender Jean-Clair Todibo had a heated exchange with Nuno Espirito Santo after the Newcastle United defeat and informed the Hammers boss he would not play for him again, according to The Athletic.

The 26-year-old Frenchman was taken off in the 25th minute of the 3-1 defeat and he took issue with the substitution, complaining to West Ham goalkeeping coach Barbosa.

Todibo was not named in the Hammers’ matchday squad for the game against Leeds United today at the London Stadium and would prefer a summer exit.

He will not be the only West Ham player looking to move on following the club’s relegation to the Championship.

Winter transfer window signing Pablo Felipe is also expected to move on after failing to score in 17 games across all competitions.

The 22-year-old striker was West Ham’s first January arrival, joining them in a €20 million deal from the Portuguese club Gil Vicente.

Signing Pablo has proven to be an unwise move and the medical team advised Nuno not to sign him because he had a hamstring injury.

He ignored their advice and it has proven costly as he only weighed in with one assist in those appearances.

West Ham secured a 3-0 victory over Leeds today but it was not enough to keep them up after Tottenham Hotspur won 1-0 against Everton.

They finished 18th in the table, two points off the safety zone and will be playing in the Championship for the first time since 2011.

Four or five of the club’s first-choice players will have to be sold as the club needing to raise £150m in player sales this summer.

The likes of Crysencio Summerville, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Mateus Fernandes are also expected to leave and a major squad overhaul could be on the cards.
