Jesse Lingard could debut as Fluminense and Corinthians’ star signings intersect | OneFootball

Jesse Lingard has been registered and could debut for Corinthians against Fluminense on Wednesday. According to Globo.com, his possible bow underlines how both clubs have chased marquee names this century.

For Fluminense, Ronaldinho was unveiled in July 2015 but lasted only two months, nine games and no goals. Fred arrived in 2009 from Lyon and scored twice on debut against Macaé.

Alexandre Pato cost €15 million, around R$40.5 million, weeks after the Club World Cup, with 100% of his rights bought from Milan. Memphis Depay arrived in mid-2024 and the club now owes more than R$40 million in bonuses and targets. Lingard’s deal runs to season’s end, with an extra year possible if targets are met.
