Awaiting registration at Corinthians, Jesse Lingard visited Heliópolis, São Paulo’s largest favela by area, to film the second part of “Do Reino à Favela”, the video first shown in his announcement on Friday. According to ge.globo, it is expected to be shown at half-time of Wednesday’s match against Coritiba at Neo Química Arena, when he will be presented on the pitch.
During filming, the Englishman was seen riding a bicycle and interacting with children wearing Corinthians shirts. One sequence also references Camisa 12, one of the club’s organised supporter groups.
His approach mirrors that of Memphis Depay, who arrived in 2024 for his first spell in Brazilian football. The Dutch forward connected with local communities and recorded music clips in peripheral areas.
Lingard will address the media for the first time on Wednesday at 20:00 at Casa do Povo. He has not yet been registered as he is awaiting a work visa and other migration documents.
The 33-year-old has signed until the end of 2026, with an automatic extension to the following year if contractual targets are met.
He spent the last two seasons with Seoul FC, playing 66 games, scoring 19 goals and providing 10 assists. His standout spell came at Manchester United, where he made 235 appearances, scored 35 goals, supplied 21 assists and won four trophies.
