Jesse Lingard lands in Brazil for medicals and to sign with Corinthians

In the early hours of this Sunday (1st), English midfielder Jesse Lingard landed at Guarulhos Airport, arriving from England to undergo medical exams and finalize his transfer to Corinthians. The contract is expected to be valid until the end of the 2026 season, with an option to renew for one more year upon meeting certain goals.

Upon arrival, the player made brief statements about Timão: “I’ll speak later,” said Lingard when asked about his choice of club. He then commented on his excitement about joining the black-and-white team: “Of course, of course (I’m excited). Go Corinthians!” The expectation is that the athlete will undergo medical exams as early as this Monday (2nd) and begin the documentation process to later be officially announced by the club.

Lingard arrives at Corinthians as a free agent, meaning he has not been under contract with any other sports club since his departure from FC Seoul, South Korea, back in December 2025. For the South Korean club, he played a total of 66 matches, scored 19 goals, and provided 10 assists. The 33-year-old can play on both wings, as an attacking midfielder, and as a second striker, in a role similar to that of Memphis Depay.

The most significant spell of Jesse Lingard’s career was at Manchester United, the club that developed him in its youth academy. Professionally for the Red Devils, between 2015 and 2020, he played 235 games, scored 35 goals, provided 21 assists, and won four titles, the most important being the UEFA Europa League.
