Corinthians have unveiled Jesse Lingard, 33, at Neo Química Arena after announcing him last Friday, on a deal to the end of 2026 with an automatic extra year if he meets targets.
According to Meu Timao, he was presented alongside president Osmar Stabile and executive Marcelo Paz, and cited former Manchester United team-mate Memphis Depay and the club’s scale in deciding the move.
Lingard said Depay had explained what Corinthians are like and he views them as Brazil’s biggest club. He called the decision straightforward, praised the passion of the fanbase, and said he is eager to help the team win.
The signing was confirmed in a video filmed at Casa do Povo. He joined as a free agent after leaving FC Seoul in December. He has trained at CT Joaquim Grava since, but cannot play until his registration appears on the CBF’s Boletim Informativo Diário (BID), which should follow in the coming days after his work visa and paperwork are completed.
A Manchester United academy graduate, he can operate centrally or from wide areas. He made 235 appearances, scoring 35 and assisting 21, and won four trophies, the UEFA Europa League, FA Cup, League Cup and Community Shield. He has 32 England caps and played at the 2018 World Cup.
After early loans, he had a sustained spell at United from 2015 to 2020, then joined Nottingham Forest in 2022. He moved to FC Seoul in February 2024, producing 19 goals and 10 assists in 66 official matches.
