Carlos Corberán will be forced to tweak his side despite the win at Getafe, with José Gayà suspended for the RCD Espanyol match after five bookings. The captain’s absence opens the left-back slot for Jesús Vázquez.
According to Superdeporte, Vázquez has made the most of minutes earned through Gayà’s setbacks or on merit. Valencia need every squad member in a promotion fight, and he remains a long-term asset after renewing until June 2028.
He has mixed starts and cameos, and underlined his readiness against Getafe. That display echoed his standout 24/25 showing at the Bernabéu, marked by direct running and a powerful physique.
The Copa del Rey has lifted him. There was a clean sheet in Gijón, a winner in Cartagena and a strong shift in Burgos. He impressed in Vigo until a costly error, and at the Metropolitano his work pleased the staff. Corberán can now choose between Gayà and Vázquez, or even field both if needed.
Recent outings have brought ratings above 7.0 in three of his last six. His best came at Cartagonova in a testing tie with Cartagena, playing the full match including extra time and hitting a last-gasp winner.
Vázquez has 16 appearances this season across league and cup, starting in half. If he maintains this trajectory, he could gain further prominence. In 2024/25 he played 24 games and just over 1300 minutes, figures now within reach.
