FC Barcelona beat Real Oviedo 3–0 in La Liga at the Spotify Camp Nou. The best moment of the game came near the end, when Lamine Yamal acrobatically converted a Dani Olmo cross, bringing the crowd to its feet.
No one could believe what they had just seen from the teenager. Olmo’s outside-of-the-boot trivela was slightly behind the Spanish winger and, instead of taking a touch and turning, Lamine went for the spectacular.
After the game, his teammates, including Raphinha, Marc Casado, and Pau Cubarsi, expressed their sheer disbelief at the goal. President Joan Laporta echoed a similar sentiment in an interview as quoted by SPORT. He said:
“We’ve witnessed a work of art from Lamine. That goal alone is worth the price of admission. It’s one of those goals that define a player and a stadium. He has a style of play that lends itself to goals of this kind of beauty, like his curled shots from outside the box.”
Lamine Yamal is the player who has brought a lot of joy to the Spotify Camp Nou since the renovation. The crowd loves many in the current team, but none more than the 18-year-old, as seen when he was taken off last night.
The Spaniard is a maverick, but even by his extremely high standards, what he managed to do against Oviedo will go into his highlight reels. At just 18, Lamine already has one of the best goal catalogues one can ask for in football.
It remains to be seen whether such acrobatic finishes will become a regular part of Lamine’s game in the future. We will see how things play out on this front.
